N-Drive Space Usage and Allocations

Network storage space is provided for unit administrative, instructional support, student groups, and personal data on the WCNR N Drive system.

ADMINISTRATIVE

For administrative data storage needs, the WCNR network data storage system provides space for academic departments, centers, and the Dean’s office.

Academic Departments

Each WCNR academic department is provided network data storage to support departmental administration.  This storage space is managed at the direction of the department head.

Centers

WCNR centers, to include the Colorado State Forest Service, Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, Colorado Natural Heritage Program, Center for Collaborative Conservation, Environmental Learning Center, and the Natural Resources Ecology Laboratory, are provided network data storage to support departmental administration.  This storage space is managed at the direction of the unit leader with the intended use for unit administrative needs.

Dean’s Office

Network data storage is allocated to support the WCNR Dean’s office entities to include the business office, human resources, student programs and career services, information technology, marketing and public relations, development, and college-wide committees.

INSTRUCTIONAL

Network data storage is provided to support development of course materials.  This space is shared across all academic departments. Each academic department is provisioned a directory managed by their department head.   This shared space is purposefully built to accommodate and encourage courses in development and is unable to archive class data past active development. Once active, data should be moved to move appropriate locations such as, Canvas or ‘Classes’, for student use.

To support instructional needs for courses with a computer-based component, space is reserved for course data sets and is intended for use by students.  Access to course data sets can be made available to students from the WCNR computer labs, academic departmental computer labs, and the WCNR Lab Cluster.  The WCNR Lab Cluster is a remotely accessible clustered MS Windows system hosting the same software installed in the WCNR computer labs and is available to all WCNR students.
