Join us for the Spring 2024 GEODE workshop focused on Inclusive Mentoring.  The training is scheduled for Thursday, January 18 from 12:30-2 pm in MSNR Rm 345.

The training will be led by Dr. Jozsef Vigh, an associate dean at the Graduate School, and will focus on two aspects of inclusive mentoring: aligning expectations and effective communication.

Create a short 5-7 minute presentation about an area of geologic interest to you. Bring supplementary material if you would like, such as hand specimens, maps, or papers.

Topics may cover a geologic locality you’ve visited or have heard about and find interesting.

Presentations are not required to attend, but are encouraged!

Deadline to Apply to Graduate

  • GS25 Deadline for Application for Graduation Form (students applying to graduate for the first time) OR Reapplication for Graduation (students who have applied to graduate for a previous term)
  • Access the form on RAMweb
  • Anticipate when you will defend your Thesis or Dissertation, schedule with graduate coordinator as soon as you have a date. Completion of defense must be done at least 3 days before the deadline for the GS34 (March 21).

Keyence Digital Microscope Training

There will be a training by a Keyence representative on Friday February 16th from 1:00-3:00 pm in WCNR room 320. All are welcome and encouraged to attend to ask their specific questions for their specific application. If we have an application that this microscope could do but is not currently doing, they will write software for us to do said application. This is a great opportunity to potentially automate tedious image analysis tasks! Let’s take advantage!
