As the fall semester and 2020 comes to a close we wanted to reflect on the semester and the great things we’ve still been able to accomplish.

While we weren’t able to teach any in person programming, our staff worked on some great semester long products that we highlighted in an earlier blog post. Kaili planted many perennials in the pollinator garden which you can go see out at the ELC property (south of the building). More plants will be added in the spring; when it is filled with native plants the garden will provide forage for many pollinators.

Fran and Vica are nearly finished building our new compost bins after tearing down the old ones. Anna, Claire, and Emma made some great videos for families, each video includes a short activity you can do on your own out at the ELC. Check out the videos here.

Three great seniors, Emma, Zach, and Anna graduated this week. We’re sad to see them go but we can’t wait to see where life takes them.

None of this would’ve been possible without our great community! The ELC saw a huge uptick in foot traffic and visitors this summer.  Many people volunteered with us on Make a Difference Day or donated for Giving Tuesday. You can also get involved with the ELC, click here to volunteer or donate.

Finally, we’ll be taking some time this winter to plan for 2021.  We’re excited to roll out more virtual content and volunteer opportunities in the spring semester! In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the ELC on your own for a little dose of nature.  We hope you have a safe and happy holiday season and New Year.
