Field Trips
Bring your students to the ELC to learn all about the wonderful world all around us!
The ELC offers custom, standards-based programs for school groups in and around Fort Collins. While we primarily teach field trips to elementary-aged students, we love working with middle and high schoolers as well!
While we have a set of pre-made programs designed around specific grade standards, we can adapt them for any age group. Additionally, we can create an entirely new program to best fit the needs of your class.
Leaving school grounds not an option? The ELC can bring the program to you! Many of our programs can be modified for a school setting.
Service Learning
We welcome school groups out to the ELC for some real world learning. Service learning programs allow your students to connect with the natural environment on a more personal level while still learning. Learn more about service learning here.
Join the ELC for a day of exploring, learning, and getting dirty.
Great School Escapes are day-long programs taking place on certain days that Poudre School District has off. These programs, running from 9 until 3, allow children to experience and explore the natural world. Participants in these programs should be prepared to:
- Build forts
- Catch insects
- Make crafts
- Play games
- Make new friends
While Great School Escapes are intended for students grades K-5, middle schoolers are encourages to join E-CAMP, which happens concurrently to our Great School Escapes.
Learn To Bird
Each year the ELC hosts a Learn to Bird event with the Fort Collins Audubon Society. This is a great event for families interested in getting into birding or for old pros who want to freshen up their skills.
Passport Through Nature
Spend an afternoon with representatives from different CSU organizations as they teach about their specialties. Come walk along the ELC’s trails as you learn about forestry, entomology, and more.
Other Community Events
We here at the ELC believe strongly in community, so we love being able to meet different people and teach about the environment. We regularly host stations at different community events such as the Poudre River Fest and the Children’s Water Festival.
