river with trees on the far bankThe Environmental Learning Center is excited to partner with the City of Fort Collins on the ELC Flow Restoration Project. Starting in 2020, the City of Fort Collins will repair a damaged diversion structure in the Cache la Poudre River. This project will keep water flowing through a small side channel of the river at the ELC property.

Instream flow is crucial for native plants and animals such as cottonwood trees, fish and toads. This project will support our ability to provide important habitat along the river corridor where visitors and program participants can connect with the natural world.

Update: The initial repair work originally scheduled for September 8-11 has been rescheduled to September 14-18, 2020 due to the weather.

The ELC will remain open during this repair work. Visitors are advised to avoid areas with “CAUTION: HEAVY EQUIPMENT” signs. Please visit this website for more information about the work taking place next week, including a map of the work area.

Some spots along the river will be impacted by the initial repair work. If you plan to visit the ELC on September 14-18, you may need to adjust your plans to avoid the work area. Click here for more resources to help you plan your visit.
