Defrosting the ELC Blog
By: Nina Lewin
Welcome back to the Environmental Learning Center’s blog, our little digital corner of the world! This page has been dormant for a few years now, but as the seasons begin to change and we enter spring, it is the perfect time to defrost this space and check in again.
Often the coldest months of the year feel the slowest and quietest. School and work settle into a slower pace, and there’s less to do, especially outside. Here at the ELC, winters are especially quiet, the building is cold, water is turned off, and programs slow down. Even in these months, change is still happening. Plans are being made, the classroom gets cleaned and organized, and we prepare for the spring and summer ahead. As we embark on spring cleaning, we’ll be dusting off the cobwebs from the blog as well.
In the past, this blog has focused on sharing updates about environmental education topics, seasonal changes, and reflections about what’s happening on ELC and Colorado land.
Going forward, you can expect one blog post a month, and likely more as we get into the habit. Our posts will be aligned with seasonal changes, like the first blooms around the ELC, and updates as programs start to ramp up.
What to expect:
- Highlights featuring community members, volunteers and staff
- On-site updates such as wildlife spottings, stewardship work, and site upgrades
- Seasonal insights, and natural history of the ELC site
- Reflections on environmental education in action
- Environmental education knowledge and stories
Looking forward, the hustle and bustle of spring is upon us. We have volunteer opportunities starting again this month and a lot of fun programs on the calendar. Follow our Instagram for additional updates on our programs.
Until next time! Enjoy the warmer weather and get outside!
