Sharing News and Content

Warner Source

The Warner College Communications team three writers telling the college’s story through news and content creation via our college publication, Warner Source, a section of Colorado State University Source.

Our Storytelling Methods

We write stories using traditional and new media strategies. Our content and news is built around the eight major news values that determine newsworthiness: prominence, proximity, currency, timeliness, conflict, impact, human interest, odd, or unusual. We also look to tell a range of diverse stories that detail the college’s efforts and spread the message of our vision and values as a brand, which include inclusivity, diversity and justice as well as the University’s Principles of Community.

We follow both Associated Press Style as well as CSU Style found in the CSU writing guide.

Finding the right story

As an editorial team, we actively approach Warner College students, faculty researchers and staff to pitch news stories where their expertise or perspective can be highlighted. The team works with departments and centers to develop their own strategies around storytelling on a consultant level.

We also work off of requests for stories by our internal stakeholders who proactively inform us of their achievements, events, discoveries and more.
