About Douglas

Doug Rideout is Professor of Forest Economics at Colorado State Univesity and CO-Director of the WESTFIRE Research Center. Dr. Rideout's research is focused on strategic planning and budgeting of wildland fire programs primarily through the STARFire spatial planning system. He teaches Forest Economics and Fire Policy.

  • Wildfire: Economics of initial attack, economics of prescribed burning and fuels management, interagency strategic planning and fire policy. Timber: Timber sale contracting, forest investment analysis, timber supply and demand. Analysis of the timber industry in public forestry.
