About Maricela

I’m a PhD student researching the effects of wildfire and mining on freshwater insects in Rocky Mountain streams. By integrating observational and experimental methods, I aim to understand how these two stressors interact and influence ecosystem functioning. Specifically, my research investigates the interplay between fire-related sediment and metals, as well as the resulting changes in stream insect communities.
