About Joseph

Formerly Dean of the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University, Professor and Department Head in the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University, and an Emeritus Professor at Purdue University, Joe has a prolific and distinguished publishing record in the tourism and recreation research areas with more than 250 publications. He currently teaches and does research in HDNR. His personal interests and passions include enjoying the outdoors, flower gardening, working with students and others to enable success, and “data” – having the opportunity to explore, understand and use the wide range of international travel and recreation data – “…so much data, so little time!”

Interests

  • Joe is currently a co-editor of the International Journal of Tourism Sciences and is on the Editorial Advisory Board for Tourism Analysis. His main focus is on travel and recreation behavior explored through the use of large and extensive secondary data sets from public and private organizations from around the world.
