About Derek

I am an interdisciplinary scientist who uses principles from the physical and biological sciences to understand river, floodplain, and wetland ecosystems. My research interests revolve around ecohydrological processes on the landscape, including the topics of riparian ecology, fluvial geomorphology, dendrochronology, and stream and wetland restoration. Through building an understanding of ecosystem interactions I aim to inform land management that is geared toward maintaining self-sustaining landscapes.
