Warner College – PEEPS Diorama Contest

Hey Warner PEEPS!

We're In This Together

Spring is here. It’s the season of beginnings. While we’re all currently working and studying from different locations around the world, we want to celebrate a brighter future and what it means to be part of Warner College together.

Since 2017, The Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) has held an annual PEEPS Diorama Contest to celebrate life by incorporating the seasonal marshmallows shaped as ducks, bunnies and other animals into creative models. CNHP is extending this annual tradition to all departments and units in Warner College this year!

Votes are in!

COVID-19 and all its consequences had a lot to do with our results this inaugural year, for good reason. Thank you so much for participating! We hope that through this friendly contest everyone was able to find (1) a creative outlet, (2) a feeling of solidarity and (3) a lift to the spirits during this unprecedented time.

Together.

We Continue as Warner College.

Post COVID-19 Celebration With Real PEEPS

My fiancé and I can’t think of any better way to celebrate the end of social distancing than gathering all our favorite real life PEEPs for our wedding!

Diorama made from items found around our apartment – the only things purchased were PEEPs 🙂

We ordered every color of Peeps that our King Soopers in Greeley had, and wouldn’t you know, we got every color but yellow when I picked up the delivery! The missing yellow Peeps, though, inspired my diorama entry: In Search of the Elusive Yellow Peep.

My partner in life works with venomous snakes and their venoms, so we made sure to include a snake. And, and yes, the background pic is one we actually took years ago on the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The coyotes came out just before dusk and watched us. The picture normally hangs in or dining room. Note, too, the water bottle with ESS/Watershed sticker placement. Got to support my Department. Just sayin’. ; )

Peep King: Murder Mayhem and Madness features a sneak peep into the lives of Joe Peepxotic and Carole Peepkins, bitter rivals that own exotic peep zoos. Join gun-toting, crutch-bearing, mustachioed Joe Peepxotic during one of his intrepid campaign runs while simultaneously hosting his online show bashing his rival Carole Peepkins. Hey cool cats and kittens, join Carole Peepkins on one of her scooter tours of her peep “sanctuary.” Did she murder her husband, coat him in sardine oil, and feed him to her peeps? You might be able to spot some evidence.

The toilet paper bandits have struck again! But this time they’ve met some unexpected resistance from a resident who’s most likely contributed to the sudden rise in firearm sales. All the commotion hardly upsets business for the underground T.P. dealer in your sleepy neighborhood. Nor the mad rantings of the apocalypse fanatic who’s thrilled to be at it again after 2012 didn’t pay off.  If you see any peep resembling these masked figures with T.P. stuck to its shoe, call 9-PEEP-PEEP immediately. Charmin is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest! End days? Maybe not. But these are strange times indeed.

This is a completely accurate recreation of the first Enterprise’s bridge, complete with the yellow command and coms Peeps, blue science and medical Peeps, and of course the expendable red shirt Peeps, plus there is an upgradable Captain Peep with the third season exclusive green shirt!

Notice how the viewing screen can be customized for whatever scenario you please (it is the hole in the front built with brackets to hold a smart phone). Maybe you want a leisurely jaunt around an M class planet, maybe you’re flying at warp speed, and maybe you’re being attacked by a Klingon Bird of Prey! The possibilities are endless with my patent pending smart phone holder; anything you can find online you can put on the view screen.

It’s hard to get everything in just one picture, I was planning on submitting a side view, front, and back view, but in these times we have to work with what we have.

I had breakfast at a restaurant in Denver called Jelly’s, and the whole bathroom was wallpapered in the most amazing collection of Garbage Pail Kids cards. At that moment I was inspired to create this Peep diorama. I hadn’t appreciated the way the creators of Garbage Pail Kids had fun with words while poking fun at Cabbage Patch kids until then. I started with images of Garbage Pail Kids cards, graphic elements, and fonts and went from there. Ran out of black ink for “Catchin a microWave Dave”

Post COVID-19 Celebration With Real PEEPS

Dreaming of some river swimming, and having made a delicious batch of blue jello (by happenstance).. I luckily checked my email before cutting in to the first slice of Jigglers. I thought to myself, how would these Marshmallows enjoy some time in the “water”? So I called up some PEEPS (they didn’t have a choice I just picked them up from the store) to see if they wanted to come hang out, and have a pool party. No pool party could be complete without tiki torches, and as a WCNR student, I admire all the elements. Post COVID-19, Peeps can ethically and health consciously float side by side in their aquatic habitats. Besides, word had gotten out we were supposed to have a snow storm, and figured it would be best to enjoy the nice weather outside accordingly.
