It is currently a very exciting time for the ski industry, with technological advances and an increased focus on guest services, leading to growing participation and the enhancement of the skiing experience. Additionally, the ski industry is poised to undergo a generational shift, where many senior level managers will be looking to retire in the coming years. What the industry therefore needs is motivated, educated, hard-working individuals who understand the specific challenges and opportunities of ski area operations and are committed to developing a career in some of the most beautiful alpine environments in the world.
SKAMP Coursework
This program consists of six graduate-level courses that can be completed in a manner that best suits your employment and living situation. Each course is an eight-week accelerated program of study focused specifically on key areas of knowledge for successful ski area management, as identified by current industry experts within the ski industry. This includes a focus on sustainable ski area practices, strategic management and marketing, resort planning and design considerations, ski area finance and investment, ski area operations, and human resource management. Upon completion of these six courses, students will receive a transcripted Graduate Certificate in Ski Area Management from the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, Colorado State University.
How is SKAMP delivered?
The ski area management graduate certificate is only offered online through Colorado State University Online. Each course is delivered via a sophisticated, online interactive learning platform which includes narrated presentations, discussion groups, and a range of multi-media content, including video interviews and discussions with ski area managers and other industry experts.
SKAMP Instructors
Instructors for the ski area management graduate certificate have both academic knowledge and real world experience within the ski industry. Additionally, they have worked closely with current ski area operators and managers to develop much of the content for each course. As such, students have the opportunity to learn directly from ski industry experts, including Executive VPs, CEOs, CFOs, mountain operation managers, marketing managers, and human resource managers from some of the most successful ski areas around the world.
