Chi-Square Probability


This dialog box will compute the significance level for a chi-square statistic.  You must enter the value of the  chi-square statistic for which you want to compute the probability of observing this large of value or larger (value must be >0), and the degrees of freedom (value must be >0, but not necessarily integer).  After you have entered these 3 values, click the OK button to perform the calculation.  You can also abort the calculation by clicking the Cancel button.

For example, if you enter the value 3.84 for the chi-square value, and 1 for the degrees of freedom, and click OK, you find that the probability level is 0.0500.

Another feature of this dialog box is that you can enter expressions for the numerical values.  This, instead of entering "3.84" in the above example, you could have entered "1.92+1.92", and gotten the same result.  You can use more complex expressions, such as "1.92*2", or "1.96**2".  This computing feature works for the degrees of freedom box also.
