Objectives still to be decided with
funding source:
1)
Determine effects
of mowing sections of
roadsides on incidence of road-kills.
2) Habitat use,
and/or
3) Effects of
military maneuvers on foxes.
Stipend: $1,500/month,
plus tuition.
Accommodations on San Clemente Island: The
US Navy will provide a dormitory-style room and meals while on San
Clemente Island, and aerial
transportation between San Diego and San Clement Island at no
charge.
About 12 to 40 Natural Resources biologists and technicians are present
on the Island throughout the year.
Visitations by
family and friends are limited to 1 weekend every 6 months.
Qualifications:
1. B.S. degree in
Wildlife, Ecology, Zoology or related field.
2. GPA >3.0 (prefer GPA >3.5).
3. GREs >1200 for Verbal and Quantitative combined.
4. Experience conducting field research, radio telemetry, and GIS
preferred.
5. Creative in the design and initiation of the study.
6. Publication experience preferred.
7. Maturity, motivation, and attention to detail.
