WCNR Account Basics

You are eligible for a WCNR network account if:

  • you are a student, faculty or staff with a home department in the college
  • you are a student from another college taking a WCNR class
  • you are a sponsored affiliate of WCNR

 

You will need to request a WCNR network account if:

  • you will need access to the PC Labs
  • you will need access to college network resources such as network drives and printers
Network home directories have a 3GB quota

Symantec AntiVirus is free for home use for faculty, staff and student personal computers and can be downloaded from the link below.  It is available for Windows and Mac OSX.  Windows Secure Shell (SSH), PkZip and IP Sentry are also available on the dowloads page.

Getting an Email Account

All Colorado State University students, faculty, and staff are given a free email account with the creation of an eID. Visit the eID Web Site to create an eID.
 

Central Exchange Service for Faculty & Staff

Google Apps for CSU

Undergraduate students, are given a Google Apps account during the EID account creation process. Faculty, staff, and graduate students can create a Google Apps account in addition to their main university email account, at http://mail.rams.colostate.edu.

Requirements
  1. To access the Warner CNR PC Lab software using the remote desktop application, you will first need to login to CSU's "secure gateway" at https://secure.colostate.edu/netconnect (use your eID).  Once logged in, click the "network connect" button and wait for a connection pop-up window to appear.
To Connect (Windows PC):
  1. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Communications and click onRemote Desktop Connection.
  2. Type in the name of the computer which is labcluster.warnercnr.colostate.edu.
  3. Click on Options and then click on the Local Resources tab and check the boxDisk drives. This will allow you to save to your local or homes drives.
  4. Click on the Connect button at the bottom, you will receive a security warning, but just click on OK.
To Connect (Mac OSX):
  1. Download and install Microsoft's remote desktop client from http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.
  2. Run the remote desktop client and connect tolabcluster.warnercnr.colostate.edu.
  3. Options in the RDC -> Preferences menu will allow you to access local resources from your remote Windows session.

Map Network Drive (Windows)
  • click on the "Net Connect" button after logging into the SSL VPN
  • Right-click "My Computer" and choose "Map network drive..."
  • network path:  \\cnrdom.colostate.edu\wcnr-network
  • Username: cnrdom\<WCNR username>
  • Password:  WCNR password
Map Network Drive (Mac OSX 10.7+)
  • click on the "Net Connect" button after logging into the SSL VPN
  • In Finder, click Go -> "Connect to Server..."
  • Server Address:  smb://cnrdom.colostate.edu/wcnr-network
  • Username: cnrdom\<WCNR username>
  • Password:  WCNR password

Linux Desktop

Download the free NX Client, and then connect to linux.warnercnr.colostate.edu.   [  Configure NX Client  ]
