Joyce Berry

Dear Warner College Alumni, Friends, Faculty, and Staff,

Summer is here, and it is such a fantastic time to reflect on achievements and look forward to exciting times ahead. The College is doing amazing work every day, and I hope you will enjoy celebrating just a few of those achievements highlighted in this newsletter.

Spring semester is such a wonderful and busy time, and especially this year. Our Student College Council did a fabulous job planning a week full of activities for the annual NR Days, including the annual NR Days Banquet.

A special highlight of NR Days this year was a slide show event with photographer John Fielder that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act. Another "first" was our campuswide photo contest - "Natural Resources Through Your Lens." More than 250 photos were entered, and we look forward to displaying the winners in our building this summer.

Capping off the week, the third annual Arbor Day Tree Campus USA tree planting has now become a wonderful tradition, organized by the Colorado State Forest Service and CSU Facilities. It expands CSU's urban forest and forest diversity each year.

Spring graduation, as always, was joyful and exciting for our students, families, friends, and the College. Our distinguished speaker, Dan Jiron, U.S. Forest Service Region 2 forester, encouraged our graduates to be persistent, work hard, and make a difference in the world each day.

It is a bittersweet moment as I savor the moment of writing to you my final newsletter message as dean of the greatest College in the country. Having the opportunity to serve the students, alumni, faculty, staff, and partners of Warner College has been the greatest privilege of my career and is a treasured part of my life.

I cannot think of a better way to transition into retirement than to have the  honor of passing on the leadership of our College to Dean John P. Hayes. The College has a very exciting future on the horizon, and I am filled with pride and anticipation to see the new, innovative, and impactful work we will achieve. This is a great time to be part of the Warner College community.

All the best for a fun and safe summer!

Best wishes,

Dean Joyce Berry
