Dear Warner College Alumni, Friends, Faculty, and Staff:
Time has been flying this semester, and I can't believe that April is already here with its brisk winds and sunny afternoons.
We have much great news to share with you all and hope you will enjoy the stories in this latest newsletter.
Please be sure to read the exciting announcement of the College's new dean - John P.
Hayes from the University of Florida.
My official retirement date will be May 31, and Hayes will begin his position as dean on June 1, 2014.
Thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and interest in helping the University select an outstanding candidate who will undoubtedly lead the College to great new levels.
The College also recently celebrated a $1 million investment by Chevron to support five new graduate students who will conduct conservation research related to energy development in the Piceance Basin.
The Chevron Graduate Fellowship will continue the College's legacy as a leader in comprehensive natural resources research that addresses today's most important issues - such as energy.
More news on that in our next issue!
As always at this time of year, the campus is abuzz with many events.
Warner College is gearing up for its annual Natural Resources Days celebration April 21-26.
This year's NR Days is kicking off with a very special event with John Fielder celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act.
You can stay up to date with all of our events by visiting the WCNR event calendar online.
And finally, there have been many outstanding achievements across our faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
It fills me with great pride to see the amazing people who make up the Warner College community.
You are leaders in your fields and the reason our College has such an excellent reputation around the world.
There will be one more newsletter before I retire as dean, so I will wish everyone a happy spring until next time!
My very best wishes,
Dean Joyce Berry
