Live Green Community

The Live Green Community is an experience-based learning community sponsored by the Warner College of Natural Resources and the College of Agricultural Sciences. It represents a core group of students who are interested in learning about sustainability through service experiences– encompassing preserving national parks, the production of organic and traditional foods, buying local foods, understanding renewable energy, and its footprint on natural landscapes.

This community will emphasize the complexity of sustainable living through class projects and interactions with communities and professional leaders in sustainabily.

Residence & Course Requirements

Live Green Community is based on service learning experiences so each student in the community completes a project as a requirement. The first semester has a core freshman class that works with national parks, sustainable agriculture produces, and other professionals in a service framework. Students are guided by the professionals to develop the project.

The residential hall is one aspect of Live Green, but the second aspect is a larger community of committed students.Students can be involved in Live Green through the class (NR 192), the resident hall, or through independent study crews working for the Warner College on native plants.
