Geoscience expertise allows us to better understand and predict the interactions between people and Earth’s systems; such expertise is essential to developing solutions to critical economic, environmental, health, and safety challenges.

Students in the Department of Geosciences gain hands-on skills through course work, field work, internships, and volunteer work. Students apply what they learn, and develop important skills essential to the work that they will pursue after graduation.

The Geosciences program permits individual attention and strong student-professor interaction. Classes are made interactive by field trips, visiting speakers, and informal career discussions.
