Personal Interests & Studies: Dr. Berry is interested in research in the areas of human dimensions, leadership, public involvement, sustainable forest management, gender, and science assessments.
<p> <br /> <strong>B.S.</strong> &ndash; Political Science, University of California, Berkeley, 1968<br /> <strong>Graduate Education Program</strong>, secondary teaching credential, University of California, Berkeley, 1969<br /> <strong>M.S.</strong> &ndash; Regional Resources Planning, Colorado State University, 1976<br /> <strong>D.F.E.S.</strong> &ndash; Doctor of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Yale University, 2000<br /> <strong>Former Dean</strong> of the Warner College of Natural Resources </p> <p> <strong>Teaching:</strong><br /> Dr. Berry teaches courses in natural resources policy, environmental leadership, human dimensions, gender and natural resources, and professional development. She was the recipient of the Yale University School of Forestry & Environmental Studies 2005 Distinguished Alumna Award for career leadership in forestry and natural resources education. </p> <p> <strong>Research:</strong><br /> Dr. Berry is interested in research in the areas of human dimensions, leadership, public involvement, sustainable forest management, gender, and science assessments. She has contributed to the understanding of public attitudes and values, and their influence on policy and management, and the development of public involvement strategies that create public acceptance of natural resources management and policy. Additionally, she has aided in the creation of more effective natural resources and environmental leaders, and approaches to identify the next generation of leaders. She has helped to enhance national, international and sustainable forestry management of Indian Forests in the United States and protocols such as the Montreal Criteria and Indicators. Commitments to national scientific councils include membership on the Executive Committee of the National Council of Environmental Deans and Directors and acting as the Chair of the National Commission on Science for Sustainable Forestry. </p>
