Ephemeral Channels:

mostly dry, these channels flow for relatively brief periods during snowmelt or after rainfall. These are primarily first- and second-order channels, and we arbitrarily define them as occurring at elevations below the lower limit of Pleistocene valley glaciation, at drainage areas of 0.1-5 km2. Channel is typically well defined, but channels have a large range of variability in downstream gradient, width/depth ratio, and substrate type.
