Macroinvertebrates - Unglaciated Unconfined

(Information compiled by Emily Banks)

The lower gradient stream segments of finer substrate and limited shading found in unglaciated unconfined reaches are likely to support abundant populations of all functional groups of macroinvertebrates, with different types of organisms inhabiting different microhabitat units (e.g., pools vs riffles) on the streambed.

Vertebrates - Unglaciated Unconfined

Based on the elevation distributions above, we then assume that species are present in any perennial flow process domain within their respective elevation range. Fish are likely to be abundant in the diverse habitats of unglaciated unconfined stream reaches, which potentially have pools and riffles, overhanging banks, and cover in the form of overhanging riparian vegetation and wood.
